What is palm cooling?

Palm cooling is a targeted method of regulating body temperature by applying controlled cooling to the palms of the hands. The palms contain specialised blood vessels called arteriovenous anastomoses (AVAs) that allow large volumes of blood to flow close to the surface of the skin. Because of this, the palms are one of the body's most efficient heat exchange points. When you cool the palms, you're effectively cooling circulating blood — which has downstream effects on core temperature, performance, fatigue, and perceived effort.

How is CryoTherm Palm different from ice, gel packs, or water-based cooling?

Ice and gel packs lose temperature quickly, cannot maintain a consistent therapeutic range, and require freezing and setup. If a surface is too cold, it causes vasoconstriction — blood vessels narrow and heat exchange becomes less efficient. CryoThermal Technology reaches therapeutic temperature in seconds and maintains it for the full duration of treatment, with no ice, water, freezing, or external power required. When should I use palm cooling during training or competition?

Use palm cooling during natural rest periods — between sets while training, at halftime, during timeouts, water breaks, or changes of possession. For strength and hybrid training, use between sets or intervals to maintain strength, power, and movement quality deeper into the session. For intermittent sports (soccer, basketball, football), use during any break to sustain speed, power, and repeat-effort capacity in the later phases of the game. For endurance training, use during structured interval work to reduce thermal strain and sustain pace.

How long should I use it between sets or efforts?

Current research shows as little as 1 to 3 minutes during rest periods can be enough to meaningfully impact thermal strain and performance outcomes. For indoor training and strength & conditioning, use 1-3 minutes between sets or efforts. For outdoor training or game use, 3 minutes is recommended. During halftime or extended breaks, use for as long as possible.

Can my environment affect how the device performs?

The device is designed for both indoor and outdoor use in hot environments. For indoor use (or outdoor use in temperatures below 23.8°C), the device will cool quickly and perform optimally on the Level 2 cold setting. For outdoor use or in environments above 23.8°C, use the Level 3 setting for optimal temperature performance and allow additional time for the device to cool by turning it on approximately 2 minutes before use.
